Catastrophize: 1. Turn something into a catastrophe, presumably when it is nothing of the sort. 2. A verbal catastrophe in its own right, yet another example of turning a noun into a verb by adding the –ize suffix; in all probability says more about the parlous state of the person uttering it than the situation itself.
